In May 2006 we spent the weekend touring the south coast of Albania between Vlora and Saranda. The roads were terrible but the beaches were beautiful. The closest coastal town to Tirana is Durres, but the water off Durres was so polluted it was unsafe. These small beaches in the south, in contrast, were beautifully clean and the water was clear and blue. Yet because they were difficult to get to and the tourist infrastructure was so poor the were largely deserted even in May. This set also includes a couple of food photographs, something I normally avoid, but the seafood we had on this trip in a beachfront restaurant was spectacularly good.
